THE DINGOES REUNITE FOR HIT ALBUM by Gary Turner
JULY 27th 2010
IN August 2009, TheDingoes were instated into the ARIA Hall of Fame. John Bois, Broderick Smith, Chris Stockley and Kerryn Tolhurst attended the awards together and gathered on stage for the first time in 30 years.
As a result, fires were rekindled and the four gathered at Tolhurst’s studio in Tucson, Arizona earlier this year to see how it felt to play together again.
The result; a new album Tracks (Liberation) due out on August 6. To coincide with the album release, The
Dingoes will tour across Australia performing some of their earlier songs and introducing their new songs to their fans. Former Country Radio guitarist Tolhurst started The Dingoes by recruiting Broderick Smith (Carson) and Chris Stockley (Axiom) in the early seventies and released their debut single Way Out West written by Broderick.
Other songs included Boy on the Run and Smooth Sailing. Smith released one of my all time favourite songs; Going On Down to the End of the World as a solo single in 1972 on the Image label.
Smith followed up with two solo hits Faded Roses (81) and another of my favourites My Father’s Hands. (81). www.liberation.com.au
