Country Round Up By Gary Turner

TWO time Golden Guitar winner Dianna Corcoran grew up in Parkes in NSW into a musical family. Her brother Mathew played fiddle, brother Dean played bass guitar and sang and her parents were in a band where Dad was a drummer
and Mum sang.

“I also hear that my grandfather was a good singer,” Dianna said.

Dianna began singing at talentquests from her early teens and after leaving school Dianna worked as a recruitment consultant before her love for music took her back to performing and she recorded her debut album.

This put her on the way to winning the first of her two Golden Guitars as Best NewTalent 2004. The same year Dianna won an APRA award which took her to Nashville and later led her to record her second album Then There’s Me in Nashville 2006 which
was released in Tamworth the following year 2007.

The album gave Dianna her second Golden Guitar as Female Artist of the Year in 2008. Dianna said, “My parents encouraged me but I found my own way. You could say music found me.”
“I was inspired by so many people but in particular Slim Dusty, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Shania Twain.
“But I want people to know that I don’t want to be compared to anybody as I have developed my own style.”

What is Dianna playing in her
car CD player?

I am playing Carrie Underwood over and over again. But l also like playing TheMcClymonts, The Sunny Cowgirls, Dire Straits, Bee Gees and Fleetwood Mac.

Dianna will launch her new album Keep Breathing at Tamworth on January 20.

Best tracks on the album include Never, Homeless, Thank You for Cheating on Me, Rocky Hill and my favourite Keep Breathing.
Dianna is looking forward to touring in 2010 and wants to get into the outback and regional areas.

“So many people in the regional and country areas miss out and I want to share my music with them all.”

Dianna will appear at West Diggers Grand Ballroom, Tamworth on Wednesday, January 15 with guest Aleyce Simmonds.
