All eyes will focus this week on country music star Adam Brand 2009 Male Artist of the Year and 12 time Golden Guitar Award winner who will appear on the Channel 7 series ‘Dancing with the stars’ on Sunday night.
I caught up with Brandy last weekend and asked him how his newfound career of ‘country dancing star’ was holding up.
“l am terrified by the whole thing. The learning how to dance thing. I have only danced with old nanna’s at weddings quipped Adam. Appearing on TV and wearing all that fancy stuff has kind of just hit me. The first few weeks were a struggle but you get to a point where you say l have to give it 100% and l knew that after the first week.”
Adam Brand is the first country music person to appear on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and his hectic schedule has Brandy learning to dance 4 hours a day in Sydney before travelling to Melbourne for the recording of the show.
With a hit album Hell of a Ride (Compass) and Adam Brand Greatest Hits 1998-2008 (Compass) riding the charts plus his live concerts why would Adam Brand dance?
“I did for a good bunch of reasons. It was a challenge, something l would not normally think of doing, good exposure for the country music people and more importantly I get to chose of charity of my choice, Childhood Cancer Institute of Australia.”
Adam’s partner is US and Australian Ballroom dance and Latin champion Jade Hatcher.
Blue Sky Cathedral is Adam’s latest single from the album.
“We all have our won beliefs and l certainly have my own and this song reflects that. The song relates to people living on the land who don’t have to go to church to express their faith or beliefs."
Adam is pretty impressed with local Australian talent and impressed by local duo McAlister Kemp (Drew McAlister & Troy Kemp). Adam quickly signed the duo to his company Crossroads Touring Company and their first single Blue Collar Night, produced by Adam will be released in December. Adam said “his duo will blow people away.
“Talia Wittmann, Rob Black and Jasmine Rae are also great Aussie talent.”
We touched on the death of pop superstar Michael Jackson and Adam’s thoughts. “I couldn’t believe it! I remember as a young 14 year old buying the cassette Thriller.”
Give your vote to Adam Brand, Channel 7, July 5th 6.30pm.
